Saidia’s Boudoir Session, Sooke, BC

Boudoir sessions are fun, exhilarating, and hella sexy. Take them outdoors amongst our perfect Vancouver Island landscape and you have a photoshoot that is truly one of a kind. 

A client asked for suggestions on where to buy alternative lingerie for an upcoming shoot, and I pointed them in the direction of Thistle + Spire. This snake bra (and matching thong) has been a personal favourite of mine since 2021. I began dreaming up where I can photograph a similar piece around Sooke, Victoria, or anywhere on Vancouver Island almost immediately. That’s when it hit me, why have I never done a boudoir session? 

My journey of self-love meets the cliche criteria of most people my age, and as someone in my early 30s, I’ve finally begun to fully love and embrace my body and the incredible things it does. But yikes it has been a journey. The loss of a loved one and the pandemic have propelled me into 30km weekly bike rides, regular hikes, and healthy eating. I’ve had the chance to see what I can do in an extreme I’ve never tested before, and have considered taking up surfing again and even giving mountain biking a try. Heck, I’ve even tried skateboarding again and have added yoga to my morning routine. 

So here is my own personal celebration of my body, what it is, what it can be, and what it has been. I appreciate it all. Things aren’t so linear, but this session, in particular, is a sneaky session taken in the middle of a 10km hike along the shores of East Sooke. Just like the portraits, I won’t show it all. Right now, I’m happy but more importantly, I’m content.
