Travel • Nova Scotia & PEI

It sure would be sweet to photograph a wedding on Canada’s East Coast.

Max (husband/ second shooter) and I take a trip every anniversary, reliving our honeymoon in new corners of the world. Along this trip, I brought my film camera, my digital, my polaroid and a ton of lenses. I adore shooting with film, it brings me back to my roots and is always a surprise when developed.

First, we ventured Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) and all its glory. Driving the Cabot Trail reminded us of our honeymoon spent road tripping the coast from Washington to Southern California. Our first Airbnb sat above Bras D’Or which we snuck to each night for a glimpse of the moon over the water.

Cape Breton Airbnb
Nestled in Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton, this treat with feed your adventurous soul.

Our second location was near Issac’s Bay, which perhaps was my favourite Airbnb in all my years of booking with the service. Our posh spot had our own private beach on the shores of the Atlantic. Another sweet reminder of when Max and I lived on a cliff above the Pacific Ocean. We cooked, we didn’t drive anywhere and instead spent our time wrapped in blankets, reading and drinking champagne.

Seaside Hideaway
On the shores of the Atlantic, this is the perfect spot to waste time.

Our last Airbnb wasn’t as luxe or breathtaking as the previous ones. We ended our trip on a lower note in PEI, but the beautiful island made up for the poor accommodations. We ran up and down Brackley Beach, laughing at the idea that it sounds like our dog’s name: Broccoli Rob.

S’Cottage
A folky choice on the beach.

I cannot wait to head back there to photograph a wedding soon! When I am in the area, I always offer sessions to the locals.
