Tyler + Laura’s Wedding Photos

From the luxe Lord Elgin Hotel to the Locks, Major’s Hill Park and a few alleys in the Byward Market in-between- this surely was an adventurous, downtown Ottawa wedding. Sidedoor restaurant hosted the ceremony and reception amidst century stone walls and golden light. This lovely couple celebrated their love in a city they both adore, surrounded by the laughter and wicked dance moves of their friends and family.

Tyler and Laura planned their day around their hearts, and what felt right. Their non-traditional, modern wedding was a thrill to capture. It began at the Lord Elgin Hotel, high above the city showcasing the perfect weather through its wide windows. We rode the old, brass elevators down to the lobby and began our journey to the Rideau Locks and Major’s Hill Park for a mix of romantic and candid portraits. Right outside the park in the Byward Market, Tyler and Laura’s explored the bustling area before meeting us for family portraits.

Caught in the cherry blossoms, the bride and groom spotted their families arriving for portraits, some who had traveled as far as Newfoundland or the United Kingdom to witness this beautiful union. After photographing the joyous family in front of the Parliament buildings, we all ventured into the Byward Market for what would be a wild celebration and amazing food at Sidedoor.

The outdoor ceremony took place on the cobblestone courtyard between historic Ottawa buildings. Wedding guests crowded the area in excitement, who would also gather around the newlyweds later during cocktail hour. In fact, all guests began to dance before plates had a chance to be cleared that evening.

When we left late in the night, there were no signs of the party stopping!
